Mount Vernon, Ina, Bluford: we buy minerals and royalties throughout Jefferson County, the south end of Salem Consolidated and a dozen small Mississippian fields around Mount Vernon.
Jefferson County is Mount Vernon, where Stewart Producers and other small operators keep their offices, and a ring of small Mississippian fields that have paid modest royalties since the 1940s. It is also a coal county, and the newest permits south of town are for methane out of old mines, not oil, which is worth knowing before you assume a new well is yours.
What produces here. The Illinois Petroleum Resources Board puts Jefferson County at 158,891 barrels for calendar 2025, down just 1.5 percent from 161,304 in 2024, one of the flattest declines in the basin. The oil comes from the south end of Salem Consolidated and from Divide Consolidated, King, Woodlawn, Boyd, Ewing East, Oakdale, Reservoir, Markham City West and North, Coil, Williams Consolidated and Ina, with pay in the Salem, Ste. Genevieve, Aux Vases, Benoist, McClosky and Bethel; the ISGS database carries about 1,010 unplugged oil producer records here. The operators you will see on checks and in the county records include MKE Producing, Stewart Producers of Mount Vernon, Podolsky Oil, Petco Petroleum, CountryMark Energy Resources and Brothers Oil and Iron. The IDNR weekly permit logs show four oil well permits in 2025, Stewart Producers' Hogshead FLP 1 and MKE's Loss 2 to the Ullin and Warsaw in April, a Grand Tower test to 4,400 feet in June, and Podolsky's Clark Waters-Hopkins 1 to the McClosky in December, and in 2026 one oil permit, MKE Producing's Loss 4 on May 29, plus four Keyrock Energy coal mine methane permits in the Herrin coal at 700 feet on August 10 and a Brothers Oil and Iron disposal well in September.
Whatever you own here, producing royalties, non-producing acreage, or an inherited fraction split among family, we will identify it from whatever paperwork you have, value it off the actual wells and activity, and show you the reasoning with the offer. Free, no obligation, and no pressure: if keeping it is the right answer, we will say so. Inherited it? Start with inherited mineral rights in Illinois.
