Petersburg, Winslow, Spurgeon: we buy minerals and royalties throughout Pike County, the Union Bowman Consolidated field and the strip-mined ground around Petersburg.
Pike County was strip mined, a lot of it, and the minerals tell that story: the coal companies took the coal and often reserved the oil and gas, so the family that sold the farm in 1955 may still own a royalty under ground that has since been dug up and put back. The oil here is shallow Union Bowman Consolidated production, small checks from old wells, with a handful of new holes each year from the little operators who know the field.
What produces here. Oil from Union Bowman Consolidated, which runs from Pike into Gibson County, in Pennsylvanian sands and the Mississippian Glen Dean, Cypress, Aux Vases, Salem, and Warsaw, plus the Rumble waterflood. Indiana publishes production only statewide, not by county: the Division of Oil and Gas reported 115,486 barrels and 239,449 Mcf for July 2026 and 1,315,471 barrels and 2,887,306 Mcf for all of 2025. The operators you will see on checks and in the county records include Tussey Oil Properties, with 196 Indiana wells on the state's August 2026 operator list and the Hazel Stewart 2 completed as an oil well at 1,367 feet in May 2026; Indian Black Water, which permitted the William R. Huey 9 to the Salem at 2,500 feet in October 2025 and drilled the Conley 3 to a 1,684-foot dry hole in May 2026; Travis Thompson Oil, converting the John McAtee Heirs 22 to a Glen Dean oil well in March 2025; F.D. McCrary, A.T. Like Farms 2 completed at 1,310 feet in July 2025; Countrymark Energy Resources; and Moore Engineering, which converted the Energy Conversion 8-5 and 8-9 to injection in the Rumble pool in June 2025. Nothing horizontal, nothing deep, and a pace of a few permits a year.
Whatever you own here, producing royalties, non-producing acreage, or an inherited fraction split among family, we will identify it from whatever paperwork you have, value it off the actual wells and activity, and show you the reasoning with the offer. Free, no obligation, and no pressure: if keeping it is the right answer, we will say so. Inherited it? Start with inherited mineral rights in Indiana.
Oil first recorded in 1916, consolidated in 1950, with Petersburg West folded in by 1959: Pennsylvanian sands, Tar Springs, Hardinsburg, Glen Dean, Cypress, Aux Vases, Ste. Genevieve, Salem, and Warsaw at 1,300 to 2,500 feet, spilling over into Gibson County.
A small Pike field in the Aux Vases, Ste. Genevieve, and Hardinsburg, under waterflood by Moore Engineering with injection wells converted in June 2025 at about 900 to 960 feet.
