Where We Buy · Indiana · Dubois County

Sell your Dubois County mineral rights.

Jasper, Huntingburg, Ferdinand: we buy minerals and royalties throughout Dubois County, quiet acreage on the eastern edge of the Illinois Basin with a few old Jasper, Huntingburg, and Ireland fields.

Dubois County is furniture, turkeys, and German Catholic towns, not oil, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise. The Jasper, Huntingburg, and Ireland fields found a little Mississippian oil in the middle of the last century, some stripper wells are still pumping, and the county's minerals mostly sit unleased under farms whose owners have never had a reason to think about them, which in Indiana is a reason to think about them now.

What produces here. Very little. The old Jasper, Huntingburg, and Ireland fields produced from the Renault, Aux Vases, Ste. Genevieve, Cypress, Sample, Big Clifty, and Salem, and what remains is legacy stripper production. Indiana publishes production only statewide, not by county: the Division of Oil and Gas reported 115,486 barrels and 239,449 Mcf for July 2026 and 1,315,471 barrels and 2,887,306 Mcf for all of 2025, and Dubois contributes a sliver of it. In the state's monthly permit reports from March 2025 through July 2026, the only Dubois County permit was Menke Brothers' Melvin Menke 1, a Rosiclare wildcat permitted in September 2025 to 1,250 feet; there were no Dubois completions reported in that span. There is no coalbed methane program here and no carbon storage project. A quiet county page is honest, not padded.

Whatever you own here, producing royalties, non-producing acreage, or an inherited fraction split among family, we will identify it from whatever paperwork you have, value it off the actual wells and activity, and show you the reasoning with the offer. Free, no obligation, and no pressure: if keeping it is the right answer, we will say so. Inherited it? Start with inherited mineral rights in Indiana.

Questions

Straight answers for Dubois County owners

What are mineral rights worth in Dubois County?
Honestly, usually not much, and we will say so. Dubois sits on the eastern edge of the basin where the fields are small and old, almost nothing new is being drilled, and a non-producing severed interest here may be worth more as a cleared-up title than as a sale. If you have a producing royalty from one of the old fields we value it off the actual checks and show the work, free. Indiana publishes production only statewide, so the checks are the record.
Can my Dubois County mineral rights expire?
Yes, and in a quiet county this is the main risk. The Dormant Mineral Interest Act, Indiana Code 32-23-10, extinguishes a severed mineral interest that goes 20 years without production, lease or royalty payments, taxes paid, or a recorded statement of claim, and the interest reverts to the surface owner with no advance notice; the U.S. Supreme Court upheld it in Texaco v. Short in 1982. Most Dubois minerals have not been leased in decades. A statement of claim filed with the Dubois County Recorder before the 20 years run keeps the interest alive, and we will tell you whether yours is still alive whether or not you sell.
What does Indiana charge when a Dubois County well does produce?
The petroleum severance tax under Indiana Code 6-8-1-8, the greater of 1 percent of value or 24 cents a barrel and 3 cents per Mcf, taken before your royalty is figured. Indiana has no statute setting royalty payment deadlines or late interest on private leases, so the lease you or your parents signed is the whole rulebook on when and how you get paid.
What does it cost me to sell?
Nothing. Berlin pays all title work, document preparation, and recording costs. The offer you accept is the amount you receive.
