Shading combines rigs currently running with drilling permits approved in the last 90 days, from Enverus data refreshed monthly (last update 2026-10-02). Hover any county for its numbers; click through for operators by name, formations, and the questions owners there are actually dealing with. A quiet county is not a worthless county, legacy production is real value, but activity is what moves prices, and it is exactly what an income-multiple offer ignores.

Why does drilling activity matter to what my minerals are worth?

Because buyers price the future, not the past. Rigs and fresh permits near your acreage mean new wells, new royalty streams, and undeveloped locations a serious buyer must pay for. An offer priced off last year's checks assigns all of that a value of zero. Our published methodology shows how activity enters a real valuation, and the free valuation applies it to your section.
