Caldwell, Belle Valley, Batesville: Utica condensate country in the middle of two ownership changes, where a lot of owners' checks are currently confused.
Noble County sits in the Utica condensate and volatile oil window, producing roughly 774,000 barrels of oil and 11.5 million Mcf of gas in a recent quarter, fourth in Ohio for oil.
The most immediate thing for an owner here is that the county has changed hands. Antero sold its Ohio Utica upstream position, roughly 150 million cubic feet equivalent a day, to Infinity Natural Resources and Northern Oil and Gas for $800 million, effective July 2025 and closing in the first quarter of 2026. Payor confusion and interrupted checks are widespread in Noble County right now because of it. If your check stopped, changed format, or came from a name you do not recognize, that is the first thing to check and it is usually not a problem with your interest.
Infinity now operates roughly 137 active wells, with Ascent and EOG also present. Noble also hosts a concentration of Class II saltwater disposal wells serving the play, which appears in surface and injection rights title work.
Underneath the modern development sits a very deep conventional legacy: roughly 8,300 wells drilled against only about 212 producing. That old population drives heavy Dormant Mineral Act and orphan well analysis, and it means many severed interests here have had nothing recorded against them for decades. In Ohio that is dangerous, because R.C. 5301.56 and the Marketable Title Act are independent routes for a surface owner to take a severed interest. Record a claim to preserve.
