Dickinson, Belfield, Richardton: legacy Tyler and Madison production on the southern basin margin, with a marginal Bakken fringe and a lot of town lot minerals.
Stark County is Dickinson, and Dickinson is a conventional oil town rather than a shale one. The Tyler Formation at Dickinson field, plus Madison, Red River, and Duperow, carried this county through a peak in 1975 that the shale era never approached. The Bakken is present on the southern margin but thin, and there is currently no drilling: no rigs, no permits in the public window, and 247 producing wells against 929 drilled.
We will tell you that up front because it changes what your interest is worth. Value in Stark County sits in existing production with a long shallow decline, not in undrilled inventory. Anyone offering you a Bakken multiple on Stark County acreage is either not looking or hoping you will not.
Two local features shape the title work. Dickinson's size means a lot of Stark County minerals sit under town lots and subdivisions, producing very small decimals and a lot of owners per section. And the Northern Pacific land grant checkerboard runs the mainline corridor, so odd sections carry reserved railroad minerals now held by corporate successors.
We buy small interests, we run our own title, and we pay all closing costs. Send a check stub or just a family name and a section, and we will tell you what is there.
The Dickinson field sits on the Dickinson to Fryburg Tyler trend, and Tyler production here predates the shale era by decades.
Conventional pools across the southern basin margin, long lived and shallow declining.
Present but marginal on this edge of the basin. Not a core position.
