Knox County is the oldest settled ground in Indiana and some of the quieter oil ground, a county of Wabash River bottoms and shallow fields east of Vincennes that had mostly gone to strippers until one operator decided the Devonian under Monroe City was worth a dozen new holes. That is the story of Knox minerals right now: a legacy field, a new idea, and families who inherited a fraction and are not sure whether it still pays.

**What produces here.** Oil from Monroe City Consolidated and the smaller Knox fields in the Pennsylvanian Jackson sand, Cypress, and Aux Vases, and now the Devonian. Indiana publishes production only statewide, not by county: the Division of Oil and Gas reported 115,486 barrels and 239,449 Mcf for July 2026 and 1,315,471 barrels and 2,887,306 Mcf for all of 2025. The operator in the county records lately is Siskiyou Energy, which permitted Carolyn 1, 3, and 4 as Devonian wildcats in April 2025, Carolyn 5 through 8 in Monroe City Consolidated in November 2025, Carolyn 9 and 10 and Wade Harrell 16 in March 2026, Carolyn 11 and 12 in May, and Carolyn H-1 and H-2 in June, with Carolyn 1, 3, and 4 reported completed as oil wells at 1,540 to 1,665 feet, Carolyn 2 converted to injection, Martha Small 1 converted to Aux Vases injection, and Roger Small 1 completed as a saltwater disposal well. P.O. and G. Operating, with 83 Indiana wells on the state's August 2026 operator list, completed the H Rusk D2-21 gas well in December 2025 and the H Diekman A2-2 gas well at 3,122 feet in June 2026. Knox took nine of Indiana's permits in the first half of 2026, as many as Posey and more than Gibson.

Whatever you own here, producing royalties, non-producing acreage, or an inherited fraction split among family, we will identify it from whatever paperwork you have, value it off the actual wells and activity, and show you the reasoning with the offer. Free, no obligation, and no pressure: if keeping it is the right answer, we will say so. Inherited it? Questions

## Straight answers for Knox County owners

What are mineral rights worth in Knox County?
It depends on the wells and units actually touching your tract, their decline, and your decimal, and in Knox County that ranges from an old Monroe City stripper royalty to acreage next to a new Devonian location, so county averages mislead. Indiana publishes production only statewide, so your check stubs and division orders are the record. We value off the actual wells and activity and show the work, free.

Can my Knox County mineral rights expire?
Yes. The Dormant Mineral Interest Act, Indiana Code 32-23-10, extinguishes a severed mineral interest that goes 20 years without use and returns it to the surface owner with no advance notice; the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the law in Texaco v. Short in 1982. Use includes production, lease payments, royalties, taxes paid on the interest, or a statement of claim recorded with the Knox County Recorder before the 20 years run. A severed interest east of Vincennes that was last leased in the 1990s and never produced is at real risk, and a one-page filing fixes it if the clock has not run. We check the dormant mineral record on every Knox purchase.

How fast does a Knox County operator have to pay royalties?
Indiana has no statute setting a payment deadline or late-payment interest on private leases; the lease governs. If the new wells reach your tract, get a payment deadline and an interest rate written into the lease before you sign, because a lease that is silent leaves you with a demand letter and a courthouse. The petroleum severance tax under Indiana Code 6-8-1-8, the greater of 1 percent of value or 24 cents a barrel and 3 cents per Mcf, comes off before your royalty is figured.

What does it cost me to sell?
Nothing. Berlin pays all title work, document preparation, and recording costs. The offer you accept is the amount you receive.
