## Haynesville royalty calculator.

Work out your decimal interest and what a producing Haynesville unit should be paying you each month, with Louisiana severance tax handled correctly. Estimates, not offers, but honest ones, and the same arithmetic we use.

### Your decimal and your monthly check

Your decimal is your net mineral acres divided by the unit acres, times your royalty rate. Multiply it by what the unit produces and the gas price, less severance tax, and you have the check.

Your net mineral acres in the unit

Unit size in acres

Your royalty rate (fraction or decimal)

Unit gas production, Mcf per month

Gas price, $ per Mcf

Louisiana severance tax

Applies: $0.1514 per Mcf (July 2026 to June 2027 rate)
Exempt: well inside the horizontal exemption window

Enter your acres, the unit size, your royalty, and the unit's production.

A strong new Haynesville well can produce over 20,000 Mcf per day in its early months and decline steeply from there, so one month tells you little about the next year. Louisiana resets the gas severance rate every July 1, and new horizontal wells are exempt for a limited window (shortened to 18 months by 2025's Act 284). Severance comes off before your royalty is figured. Deductions beyond severance depend on your lease, and unleased owners in a compulsory unit are treated differently, in your favor, under [Louisiana law](https://www.berlinroyalties.com/louisiana/).

### Check a division order decimal

Got a division order and want to sanity check it? Enter the decimal, the unit size, and your royalty rate, and this backs into the net acres the operator thinks you own.

Division order decimal

Unit size in acres

Your royalty rate (fraction or decimal)

Enter the decimal, unit size, and royalty rate.

If the implied acres do not match what the family believes it owns, do not sign yet. The decimal should change only when ownership changes. Send it to us and we will run the math against the unit order, free.

### Want the real number instead of the estimate?

These are unit-level approximations. Your actual value depends on the specific wells, their decline, undrilled benches, cross-unit laterals allocated by footage, and, in Louisiana, whether your [servitude](https://www.berlinroyalties.com/louisiana-mineral-servitude/) is even alive. We run all of it free and show the work, whether or not you ever sell.
